🏰 Blackwing Lair (BWL) Raid Guide

Nefarian's stronghold in the upper reaches of Blackrock Spire. This 40-man raid demands much higher technical coordination and specialized gear (like Onyxia Scale Cloaks) than Molten Core.

📋 Pre-Raid Checklist

  • [ ] Attunement: Must have touched the Orb of Command in LBRS (after completing "Blackhand's Command").
  • [ ] Onyxia Scale Cloak: Essential for the three Drakes and Nefarian. Without it, you will die to Shadow Flame.
  • [ ] Consumables: Hourglass Sand (for Chromaggus), Restorative Potions, and the standard Elixirs/Buffs.
  • [ ] Composition: At least 2-3 Hunters for Tranq Shot and a solid rotation of Off-Tanks.

⚔️ Boss Encounters

1. Razorgore the Untamed

A "two-phase" orchestration of crowd control. * Phase 1 (The Eggs): One person controls Razorgore using the Orb to destroy eggs. The rest of the raid must manage waves of adds. * Strategy: Split the raid into four corners. Do not kill adds too fast or they will respawn faster; focus on CC (Sleep, Fear, Roots). * Phase 2 (The Dragon): Once all eggs are gone, Razorgore becomes a standard tank-and-spank. Conflagration will disorient the tank, so have an Off-Tank ready to swap.

2. Vaelastrasz the Corrupt

The "Guild Destroyer." A pure DPS race with infinite mana/energy/rage. * Essence of the Red: You have 3 minutes to kill him before the buff expires and everyone dies. * Burning Adrenaline: Every 45s (or 15s for mana users), a player gets this. Your damage is increased, but you lose max HP every second. If you get this, run to the boss's head and spam your biggest spells until you explode. * Threat: The tank will eventually die to Adrenaline. The next tank must be #2 on threat immediately.

3. Broodlord Lashlayer

The gatekeeper of the "Suppression Room." * Suppression Room: Rogues must move ahead and disable traps. Do not rush; the whelps respawn quickly. * Mortal Strike: Hits the tank extremely hard (reducing healing by 50%). * Blast Wave: Knocks back and deals high AoE damage. Fight him with your back to the gate.

4. Firemaw, 5. Ebonroc, & 6. Flamegor

The "Drake Trio." * Shadow Flame: All three breathe this. Tanks must wear Onyxia Scale Cloaks. * Firemaw: The hardest of the three. Buffeting Flame applies a stacking Fire DoT. The raid must "LOS" (Line of Sight) behind a wall to let stacks drop. * Ebonroc/Flamegor: Require tank swaps due to Shadow of Ebonroc (healing the boss) and Frenzy (Hunters must Tranq Shot).

7. Chromaggus

A beast with rotating elemental weaknesses and "Breath" mechanics. * The Breaths: He has two of five possible breaths each week (Time Lapse, Ignite Flesh, Frost Burn, etc.). * Hourglass Sand: Use this to dispel Time Lapse if you are stunned. * Brood Afflictions: He applies 5 different colored debuffs. If a player gets all 5, they turn into a Drakonid and attack the raid. Dispellers must be on high alert.

🔥 The Lord of Blackrock: Nefarian

A massive three-phase encounter involving the entire room.

Phase Mechanic Strategy
P1: Drakonids Wave Defense Kill 42 Drakonids coming from the side rooms.
P2: The Dragon Class Calls Nefarian lands. Every 30s, he "calls" a class (e.g., Hunters' weapons break, Priests' heals hurt targets).
Shadow Flame Everyone must wear Onyxia Scale Cloaks when he lands.
P3: The Risen Skeleton Horde At 20% HP, all dead Drakonids from P1 rise as skeletons. Use AoE and Holy Water to clear them instantly.

[!CAUTION] Class Call - Shamans/Paladins: During a Shaman call, totems spawn that help the boss. During a Paladin call, the boss gets Blessing of Protection. Be ready to pivot your DPS instantly.

💎 Notable Loot
